Roses have captivated hearts and minds since the day they were first widely grown in the garden, and no colour truly tingles the senses more than those that are pretty in pink.

This is why we have decided to turn the spotlight onto pink roses, to delve into the world of pink beauties, exploring the most beautiful varieties on offer here at Harkness Roses, from soft pastels to vibrant hues.

Rose ‘Graciously Pink’

What better pink delight is there to begin our exploration into bright blooms than the aptly named ‘Graciously Pink’. This patio rose boasts some of the best shell pink roses of all.

Perfect for the patio, with attractive flowers that emerge across many months in big clusters, each displaying scores of overlapping petals for a flurrying effect.

Rose ‘Platinum Jubilee’

New roses are released and named to mark all manner of historical event or occasion, few better benefiting of a pink rose than the landmark Platinum Jubilee of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Released in the run-up to her 96th birthday as the country was busily preparing to celebrate 70 years of the monarch’s reign.

Rose ‘Platinum Jubilee’ is a double bloomer, with big, rich pink flowers that contrast to perfection against deep green foliage, giving off a powerfully sweet fragrance through the summertime.

Rose ‘Open Arms’

Pink complements many other colours so well, as seen on Rose ‘Open Arms’. Despite being known as a light pink rose, the petals of this variety fade to almost pure white at the centre, acting as a base for a firework-like eruption of buttery yellow central stamens – a mix of shades that must be grown to be fully appreciated!

Plus, this is a climbing rose, so can be used to bring vertical interest to even the most unsightly of displays, sprawling up a wall, fence, trellis, or pergola, up to a height of 3m, or more!

Rose ‘Alissar Princess of Phoenicia’

Another pink rose variety that displays a varying blend of colour. Bring a spark of vibrancy to a rose border or mixed flower bed with the intriguingly named Rose ‘Alissar Princess of Phoenicia’.

Small, pointed buds litter across this shrub rose, opening across summer to wide flowers, each displaying just five petals, each creamy peach, with a crimson red centre. The warm summer sun develops the colour, evolving to bright pink coverage – truly fascinating!

This is an excellent variety for an impressive display of flowering vigour, repeat-flowering with a plethora of blooms year after year.

Rose ‘Chawton Cottage’

Yet another climbing rose to cap off our beautiful pink bloomers. ‘Chawton Cottage’ is a beneficial rose in so many ways.

Firstly, in the garden this climbing variety grows into a rich plant of dark green foliage, which acts as a base for a mass of eye-catching flowers, each blushed in a soft pearl pink with a rich red centre. Not just treats for the eyes, these roses also release a light and pleasant perfume onto the summer breeze.

Secondly, this is a charity rose, established and named in honour of the former home of the famed British novelist Jane Austen, where she wrote six of her most popular pieces of work, and now used as a museum. For the sale of each of these roses, a financial contribution is made towards Jane Austen’s House, a registered charity.
