Description

It is hard not to notice the delightfully rich golden colour that shines from this popular rose. Despite its name, there is nothing ‘simple’ about the striking semi-double flowers that repeatedly bloom in clusters during the summer months.

Well-kept buds start to open in a red shade, before quickly being overwhelmed by a sea of gold. The flowerheads open to reveal a charming set of stamens that appear to dance on the bed of golden petals.

These delightful colours only seem to stand out more, thanks to the light green and glossy foliage. ‘Simple Gold’ is perfect for brightening up beds, borders, hedges, and big patio planters.

Growing roses is a great way to produce excellent ground cover for small birds and mammals, thanks to the healthy foliage that forms. In a boost for sustainability, 'Simple Gold' is supplied in recycled plastic pots and grown in peat-free compost.

This rose will produce hips during autumn, containing the seeds of the plant. The bright colour will attract plenty of birds, which will eat the hips and distribute the seeds.

Roses, such as ‘Simple Gold’, play an important role in ecosystems producing food for pollinators such as bees and hoverflies. Our roses have been grown to be rich in pollen, with flower shapes that allow the insects to reach it easily, and their long flowering season makes them extra valuable. Rose plants also host a range of insects that in turn provide food for birds.

For every rose sold, we are proud to donate £2.50 to the RSPB (Registered Charity in England and Wales no. 207076, Scotland no. SC037654) As the UK’s largest nature conservation charity, the RSPB strives to save species, protect habitats, and help to end the ongoing climate and nature emergency.

Supplied freshly in a 3L pot, ready to be planted out. Please note at certain times of the year this variety may be supplied in a 4L pot.

We always endeavour to provide beautifully formed plants; however, our roses will naturally start to lose their leaves from October to prepare for the colder months. Do not worry though, as they will flourish once again with leaves and buds in the spring. Please, make sure you consider the season when purchasing our remarkable roses for yourself or loved ones.

Manufactured under licence from RSPB Sales Limited to raise awareness of the RSPB (charity registration in England and Wales no 207076 and Scotland no SC037654).

For all licensed Products sold by The Harkness Rose Company Ltd, The Harkness Rose Company Ltd will donate a minimum of £10,000 per annum to RSPB Sales Ltd, which gives all its distributable profits through Gift Aid to the RSPB.
