Named several years ago for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, this rose boasts a colour evocative of the Flanders poppy.
A bright scarlet red shade glows from the petals of 'Remembrance'.
It is widely planted in the continental wargraves, where it has proved reliable and has a long flowering period and neat compact habit.
A good rose to add a bright spark of colour to any garden, and will look right at home whether planted in beds, borders, pots, or containers. The leaf is glossy and mid green.
This rose was selected by the commission due to its low growing nature, so the blooms wouldn't obscure the inscriptions on the graves, while also flowering for a long period.
Launched at the Chelsea Flower Show in 1992, with thousands of bushes shipped to the battlefield cemeteries of Europe, North Africa and elsewhere that autumn.
